Haflong

The only hill station in Assam, Haflong (also known as White Ant Hillock) is known for its beautiful landscapes, valleys, blue hills. This small and serene town is the home of various tribal communities, unique orchids such as Blue Vanda and rare species of birds.

Haflong is also famous for the ‘Jatinga Birds Mystery’, according to which flocks of birds fly to the nearby village, to “commit suicide” during a particular season. This unusual phenomenon seems to occur due to the peculiar weather conditions at Jatinga.

The major activities here are para-gliding, trekking and boating in the Halfong Lake which offers an incredible view of the mighty Himalayas.
