Majuli River Island

The largest island in Asia, Majuli is located on the banks of Brahmaputra River. The island is accessible by ferries from Jorhat  . Majuli’s laid- back atmosphere, unparalleled scenic beauty, and water meadows filled with hyacinth blossoms is truly a divine feast for the eyes.

Mājuli is also the abode of the Assamese neo-Vaisnavite sect, which was initiated around the 15th century and the surviving Satras (monasteries) still represent the colourful Assamese art and culture.

You must take the opportunity to visit this exotic island for; year after year the Brahmaputra is slowly swallowing acres of land and the island will gradually disappear.
