Tura

A hilly town in the West Garo Hills district  of Meghalaya, Tura is a valley located at the foothills of the Tura Hills and right below the Tura (Nokrek) Peak. This beautiful settlement is home to the Garo community who are of matrilineal descent.

Tura has a large number of interesting and unexplored areas and boasts of a picture postcard beauty with a mesmerising landscape filled with rolling hills, gurgling streams and green valleys.

There are various national parks here, like Balpakram and Nokrek National Park which have some of the rare animal species like the marbled cat, pig-tailed macaque, tigers and red panda. You can also visit Rongbang Dar Falls and the Siju caves, where you can spot numerous migratory birds during winters.
